Vetiver: Emotionally grounding and calming, vetiver is an extremely relaxing oil that can be useful for treating insomnia and providing support during times of lowered immunity or feeling run down

Coconut and rapeseed wax

-Coconut and rapeseed wax offers a more eco-friendly and healthier alternative to paraffin wax for candles and is also considered to be more sustainable than soy wax. 

Paraffin wax, derived from petroleum, is not renewable and can release harmful toxins when burned.

Soy wax is biodegradable and burns cleaner than paraffin, but the production of soy for wax has been linked to deforestation, particularly in sensitive ecosystems. Additionally, a large portion of soybeans grown globally are genetically modified and may be treated with pesticides.

Essential oils

-Essential oils are natural and provide a variety of therapeutic benefits. They can help reduce stress, improve mood, and even help with sleep. Essential oil candles can also help to purify the air and create a calming atmosphere. 

Many candles you find in shops use synthetic fragrances, which can contain hidden toxins like phthalates. These chemicals are often used to help scents last longer, but they can disrupt hormones and cause health issues such as endocrine problems and reproductive harm

Get the best out of your flura candle by following the below tips. This will extend the life of your candle, ensuring a cleaner and safer burn, enhancing the overall fragrance experience.

- When using your candle for the first few times, leave it burning for at least three hours or until the top layer of wax is completely liquid and touching the sides of the glass- this will help to prevent tunneling,which is when the candle burns down the middle, leaving wasted wax on the sides of the glass

- Trim the wick to approximately 6mm before every use. This is essential for a safe, clean, and even burn, as well as maximising the candle's lifespan. A trimmed wick prevents excessive soot and smoke, ensures the flame stays at a manageable height, and promotes a consistent melt pool, preventing tunnelling 

- Do not burn for longer than 4 hours at a time. Allow the candle to solidify before subsequent use 

Use a candle snuffer when extinguishing your candle to limit excess smoke and prevent hot wax from splattering. Hold the snuffer over the flame for 5 seconds. Allow the candle to cool before moving

- Ensure a level surface. Place the candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials

- Avoid drafts, as these can cause uneven burning, so choose a spot away from fans, open windows, or air vents

- Discontinue use of your candle when 1cm of wax remains at the bottom of the votive to prevent the glass from over-heating

-Never leave a burning candle unattended: This is the most crucial rule. Extinguish candles before leaving the room or going to sleep. 

-Keep candles out of reach of children and pets: This prevents accidental tipping or grabbing. 

-Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface: This helps prevent them from being knocked over and protects surfaces from heat damage. 

-Keep candles away from flammable materials: This includes curtains, furniture, bedding, paper, and anything else that could catch fire. 

-Avoid placing candles under shelves or in areas with drafts: These can cause uneven burning or create a fire hazard. 

-Use a snuffer to extinguish candles: This helps prevent sparks or hot wax from splattering. 

-Never extinguish candles with water: This can cause the hot wax to splatter.
